SEPTIC FEASIBILITY STUDY

Wastewater feasibility studies are required by Interior Health if a property is to be subdivided. A feasibility study involves proving that the subject property is suitable for a wastewater treatment system including adequate area, soil conditions and suitable setback requirements for an onsite septic system. The sitework involved is largely the same as what goes into the design of a system. Several deep observation pits will be excavated to assess the soil profile and hydraulic conductivity tests (perk tests) completed to determine the hydraulic loading capabilities. Setback verifications, topography, and presence of conflicting easements or covenants are also assessed. Below are the current outlined criteria required by Interior Health.
